Healthy Meals to Go! How to Use Mason Jar for Healthy Lunch and Snack

目次

How do you bring your lunch and snack?

There are many types of containers. One thing we want to avoid is the leak.
We never want messy leaking containers.

What I noticed…

I’ve been bringing my lunch with plastic containers. It looks perfect at first, but by the lunch time, it is a mess.
The reason is it is hard to keep most containers how they should be!
Most plastic containers are short and flat. Even if you put it flat on the bottom of your backpack, it gets upright during the commute.
This is the main reason for the leak.

Then we should use something that is not short and flat.
So, I decided to use a container with a different shape. But I wanted to keep it compact,

This is the first one I found out there.
It is good. It is microwavable and it can stand up right in my backpack, Just in case for the leak, I put it in my lunch bag, but it didn’t leak!
However, this container is pretty small… and sometimes hard to find something like this.

Found a solution! Mason jar!

One day I had lunch with my friend, she was using a mason jar to bring soup from home.
And I thought it clever. Later on the day, I googled how people use mason jars to go.
I started using mason jar after this.
There are many benefits of bringing lunch in mason jars.

No Leak!

So far, I’ve never experienced leaking from mason jar! It can stay up right in my back pack, too!

Microwavable

Mason jar is pretty strong. You can warm up your lunch in microwave. Don’t do it too long, though!

Various size

There are many different sized jars.
I use big one for salad, pasta, quinoa bowl, etc…
Small one for soup or breakfast oatmeal parfait.
When you use big ones, get the ones with a large mouth. It is easier to eat from.

Meal prep

You can meal prep in mason jars. If you use them for meal prep, don’t forget to sterilize to avoid bacteria growth inside.

Conclusion

Compared to plastic containers, mason jars are a little heavier. But I prefer the durability from the leak and how they stay in my backpack.
