Have you tried fasting?

When you hear fasting, you might think that’s hard, because you can’t eat what you want.
But think about the life you eat what you want to eat everyday. Do you think you and your body will be happy with that life? Here are some benefits you can get from fasting.

Is fasting hard?

Fasting is not same as starving. It is more like you set one or two eating reset days per week. There are many ways to take fasting in your lifestyle without starving yourself.
For example, one way to fast is to reduce you intake to certain calories two days a week.

If we were to distill the Fast Diet into a single sound-bite, it would all come down to 5:2. That’s five days of normal eating, with little thought to calorie control and a slice of pie for pudding if that’s what you want. Then, on the other two days, you reduce your calorie intake to 500 calories for women and 600 calories for men.

What are the benefits you can get?

Many people start fasting for some purposes. The popular one is weight loss. However there are a lot more benefits you can get from fasting.

You will crave less

Think about your eating habits now. You have a craving for something sweet 30 minutes after eating meals? Or for snack after a few hours? Fasting will improve your hormones system so you won’t get hungry unnecessarily.

More energy

Sounds weird, right? Less food, more energy? But think about after eating a big lunch, you don’t feel like doing anything and just want to take a nap? By eating less, you use less energy on digesting what you eat, which means more energy to be productive!

Fasting will enlighten you

Like just mentioned, fasting will leave you more energy to be productive. You will feel the difference happening inside your body.
Or, if you are having hard time not to eat on fasting days, try something you forget about your hunger. You can go for a walk, do yoga, clean up the room, or read a book. There are so many things you can try with your new eating habits. Fasting will let you notice something new in your life.

Save money

Let’s say you eat out everyday. On your fasting day, you can grab some green smoothie to get what you need. Two fasting day per week will actually save money on food.
After a while with fasting, when you think about your eating habits and feel like cooking, you’ll know how much you can save by cooking.

Don’t forget about non-fasting days

Even though you feel somewhat healthier by fasting, don’t forget about the rest of the week you don’t do fasting. It doesn’t mean that you can be crazy on those day. Try to take the recommended daily calories to maintain your health.
Also, fasting might change your entire eating habit, too.

You may have wondered how we came up with the recommendation that women have 500 calories and men have 600 calories on a Fast Day. We used the rule of thumb that women need 2000 calories and men need 2400 calories per day and on a Fast Day you should eat a quarter of a normal day’s recommended calories. Some of you have also wondered exactly how many calories you should be eating on days when you’re not fasting.
