Did you know that lips get a sunburn?

Lips have no melanin, which makes them more susceptible to sun damage cause by UV exposure. Signs of sun damage on the lips develop overtime as a result of excessive sun exposure over the years. The sun's UV rays can impact the production of collagen on your lips which can result in the formation of wrinkles on and around the area as a sign of early aging and sun damage

What happens to lips when they get a sunburn?
Reddening and swelling of the lips are the most obvious symptoms of sunburned lips. The lips may also feel dry, warm, sore, and tender to touch. They often start to crack and sometimes bleed, and is common for them to peel off, usually a few days after exposure to the damaging effect of the UV rays of the sun.
You might have already experienced, but... it is pretty painful

So... what should we do to protect lips?
Use a product with SPF!!
Wearing an SPF lip balm every day protects the skin and the collagen beneath it, in exactly the same way that regular sunscreen use prevents future sagging and aging of the skin on your face and body.
