Use it as a blush!

Use your favorite pink lipstick of choice as a cheek color. Just be sure to blend it in with your finger like you would any cream blush.

Use translucent powder to keep it all day

To make your lipstick stay on all day, pull apart the layers of a tissue, place one tissue on your lips, and apply translucent powder on top of the tissue.

When lipstick is broken or melted...

Hold onto your old contact lenses case. It’ll come in handy if your favorite lipstick gets crushed or melted. Just scoop out what’s left and store it in a very portable contact lenses case. Not a contacts wearer? Pick up a small pillbox at the drugstore.

Remove lipstick stain with hairspray

If you’re a lipstick addict, you know the agony of pulling off your favorite white t-shirt…and seeing a nice, bright smudge of lipstick left on the pristine fabric. Don’t worry; you can remove it quickly and easily—with hairspray. Yep, we’re serious: simply spray the stain with a hefty dose of hairspray, let it dry for a couple of minutes, then wipe with a cotton washcloth. The lipstick will come off right away; if there’s residual color left behind, repeat this step until it’s gone, then throw your shirt in the wash (because who wants to walk around with a hairspray-soaked shirt?).
Pro tip: DO NOT do this on fabrics like silk or brocade—if it’s dry clean only, get thee to the cleaners!

Draw "X"

Perfect your Cupid's bow by drawing an "X" on the center of your upper lip. Then, fully line and fill in the rest of your lips to give your matching lipstick something to grip on to. That way, when it starts to wear off, it will do so evenly, and you won't have that tell-tale ring of lip liner around your mouth.

Fuller lips with highlighter

Bold matte lipstick can actually make your lips look smaller so this trick will help counter that effect. Highlighter adds extra volume on your bottom lip where the sun would naturally hit. Apply after your lipstick, and stick with a powder highlighter, like Sephora Collection MicroSmooth Baked Luminizer, to keep the matte look intact.

Make it matte

Found a color you love but wish it were matte? You can fix that with powder blush. Find a (shimmer-free) product that’s close to your lipstick color, press it into your lips with your finger, and voilà—matte lip color. We like Clinique’s Blushing Blush Powder Blush ($21).

Turn eyeshadow into lipstick

If you have an eyeshadow that you suspect might make an amazing lip color, you can make that happen! Either apply a clear lip balm to your lips and pat the shadow over top, or mix the balm and shadow together on the back of your hand, then apply with a lip brush. You can even combine multiple colors to get the shade—and finish—of your dreams.
Pro tip: This doesn’t work the other way; you should never use lipstick or lip liner as eye makeup. While all eye products are tested to be safe for lips, not all lip products are guaranteed safe for eyes, and certain pigments can cause allergic reactions.
